David Johnston is Managing Director of Property Planning Australia, co-author of Property for life (Wrightbooks, 2008) and a widely published media commentator.
With more than 15 years experience in the financial services industry, David is passionate about educating others to make informed, and ultimately, more lucrative property investment decisions.
After starting his career at a major bank, David’s next step was entering the fledgling mortgage broking industry in 1999. He established and grew the highly successful mortgage advisory arm of an insurance company before founding Property Planning Australia in 2004.
Over the past decade, Property Planning Australia’s operations have expanded throughout Victorian, NSW and South Australia and gained a strong client base of first homebuyers, investors, upgraders and those transitioning into retirement.
The business has earned acclaim and national industry awards for its unique fusion of property education and strategic financing solutions.
The company also runs the only university-accredited property education course in Australia and consistently attracts high enrolment figures.

James McFall – Managing Director of Yield Financial Planning, James has dedicated his career to planning.
A strong believer that great advice is underpinned by education, James holds a Master of Commerce (Financial Planning) through the University of Western Sydney, a Diploma of Financial Advising through Securities Institute and is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP).
James has a wealth of experience and knowledge in Property and Share markets. This has been fostered and developed from directorships in Property Planning Australia and The Property School, as well as personal investment and studies in the Share market.
James regularly advises clients on whether Self-Managed Super is appropriate for their needs and along with the team at Yield, has developed clear and focused investment strategies that meet the income needs of people in or nearing retirement.
