Why we like it

Port Noarlunga is not considered to be close to the city by Adelaidians but it is a very cheap coastal suburb in the Adelaide metropolitan region. It has a classic seaside village feel about it. There is a large mixture of homes in this suburb. They range from beach shacks, cheap fibro homes and homes built of large concrete bricks right through to the conventional homes of the 1950’s and 60’s. The good signs are that more and more new homes are being built which shows that people are willing to spend money in this suburb.

The main shopping precinct is in the south western corner. It is centred on the intersection of Konrad, Gawler, Ward, Witton and Saltfleet streets. This precinct has a great community village atmosphere. There are numerous cafes, restaurants, surf shops and even bait and tackle stores. The shopping precinct is one of the great attractions of this relatively small suburb. The one primary school in this suburb is Port Noarlunga Primary School. Access to city can be gained via bus or if you are looking to make a faster trip to the city, the train terminus is in neighbouring Noarlunga Centre, where the regional shopping centre and hospital are also located. Port Noarlunga is frequented by many who are keen on the water due its jetty, reef, surf, fishing and aquatic reserve.

Why you should buy here

-One of the cheapest beach side suburbs in Adelaide.
-Easy access to the city via the train.
-Good redevelopment opportunities exist as the local council makes zoning and development easy and straight forward to comply with.
-If you like renovating with a beach theme, this is the place to do it. A number of the old beach shacks have been beautifully renovated and command a premium.

Areas to focus on

Water is the key. You should either be near the water or at least have a view of the water. As the suburb is quite hilly, there are many properties with views and not just sea views. There are picturesque views of the Onkaparinga River, Adelaide Hills and Fleurieu Peninsula.

Areas to avoid

Dyson Rd and the east end of Murray Rd are very busy thoroughfares.
