Property Planner’s Fast Fact – Not In My Back Yard (NIMBY) Locations

Are you searching for your next investment purchase?

The NIMBY effect can be powerful and can impact the value of inner suburbs where a lot of people would like to live.

Look for suburbs or towns that have minimal development taking place and where established communities have a strong influence over their council. This includes heritage listing and overlays that make it significantly more challenging to increase supply through development in the preferred pockets and streets and developments may be limited to the main thoroughfares.

The effect of this?  Land value is more likely to increase due to a limited number of new properties being built – in economic terms – this means the supply of houses may not be growing as fast as the demand to live in the area.
