Do you allow your tenants to keep pets?
Over 50% of rental leases in Australia do not allow tenants to have pets. The reason is obvious – who knows what damage a cheeky puppy can cause?
However, if you have a low maintenance investment property (for example, one that does not have a beautiful, expensive garden), it may be worth considering relaxing your ‘no pets’ policy. The benefits of this include the opportunity to charge higher rent for pets, tenants who stay longer because it is more difficult to find another home that allows pets and also there is a large pool of tenants to choose from.
